At Carter Mario Law Firm, Attorney Melissa Brescia is able to exercise her greatest passion: advocating for injured individuals. She has built her reputation of helping people who could not advocate for themselves in the areas of Family Law and Personal Injury. Throughout her career, she’s worked with organizations such as Brighter Tomorrows, which provides legal services and shelter for domestic violence victims, and the New York Department of Human Rights, where she investigated workplace discrimination claims.
Attorney Brescia’s study of Human Rights Law and Mediation in Berlin, Germany led her to work with the Veterans and Servicemembers Rights Clinic to advocate for veterans. She worked with the United States Senate, where she assisted constituents faced with foreclosure in applying for Federal services that would allow them to retain their homes. She is listed on the brief for the Hendricks v Haydu appeal, which changed how income is calculated for child support purposes. She was selected as a 2019 Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine. Attorney Brescia has extensive experience in pro bono work, litigation, education law, and employment law.
Attorney Brescia’s zealous desire to help those in need drove her to obtain her law degree from Touro College in 2012 after earning her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Connecticut in 2009. She is a proud member of the Fairfield County Bar Association and the CT Trial Lawyer’s Association. When she’s not advocating for her clients, Attorney Brescia enjoys hiking with her Black Lab mix, Kodiak, who was rescued from Tennessee.
Attorney Brescia’s approach is tailored for each individual case in order to provide her clients with personalized representation. She strives to negotiate and mediate issues outside of court in order to reduce the emotional and financial burden on her clients; however, her extensive courtroom experience allows her to passionately litigate cases when negotiations fail. If you have a personal injury case on your hands, Attorney Brescia can help you take legal action by filing an injury claim. During a free initial consultation, she can help you understand the claims-filing process and inform you on what you can expect. Let Attorney Brescia aggressively advocate on your behalf!
